Orthopedic Evaluation Clinic

The Orthopaedic Outpatient Clinic is a specialized monthly event that evaluates children from infancy into early adulthood. The orthopaedic team, along with the pediatric therapists, evaluates the children for orthopaedic problems such as deformities (Club feet / bow legs / knock knees / hallux valgus, etc.), gait disorders, subluxation / dislocation of the hips, and spinal deformity (scoliosis / Kyphosis). Institute of Child Development has unique ability to combine operative care with intensive post-operative therapy to maximize orthopaedic surgical benefit.

Objectives of the Clinic
Primary goals of the clinic are to provide the following services:

• Screening and Diagnostic assessment of orthopaedic problems
• Selection of right candidate for orthopaedic surgery
• Sharing and Explaining Post-surgical Goals, cost of the procedure, procedure details, benefits and  probable complications of the procedure, compliance of the procedure, etc
• Guiding Parents / Care Givers about the post- operative care and therapy
• Removal of plaster ( Cast)  and suture in case of need   
• Follow up post -surgically at an interval of 1 moth, 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and thereafter

Conditions / Deformities treated or managed 

• Cerebral Palsy oriented problems such as flexed knees / hyperextended knees, Crossing of legs / Frank Scissoring, Toe walking / equinus, Crouch posture / gait, Subluxated / Dislocated hip, intoeing, Severe hallux valgus, flexed elbow +/- pronated mid arm, Severe thumb in palm, etc
• Spinal Deformity such as Scoliosis. Kyphosis, etc
• Spina Bifida oriented tibial torsion, severe valgus or varus foot
• Club Feet
• Erb’s Palsy
•  Arthrogryposis- multiple fused joints
• Knock Knee ( Genu Valgum)
• Bow Legs ( Genu Varum)
•  Skeletal Disorders
•  Neuromuscular Disorders
•  Brain Injury
•  Birth Defects such as CTEV, Brachial plexus injury
•  Neurodegenerative disorders, DMD / SMA
•  Spinal Cord Injury, etc

Number of beneficiary

• Registration is limited to 20 Children in one pre-op clinic

Working Hours:

• 10.00 Am to 4.00 PM
• Mostly on Sundays
