What is Ayurveda ?
Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word which is comprised of two words “Ayu” and “Veda”.
“Ayu means life” and “Veda means to know”. Thus Ayurveda means “the science of life”. It is a holistic system of medicines and has been in the used for the last 4000 years. It has a great influence on health care system. It provides guidance regarding food and lifestyle so that healthy person can stay healthy and persons with sickness can get rid of the medical challenges.

How does it work?
According to Ayurveda it is believed that five great elements make up the universe and the human body. They are earth, water, fire, air and space. It is also believed that all humans possess a unique constellation of body types or doshas-vata  (wind/spirit/air),  pitta (bile), and kapha (phlegm). Each represents a divine force, and Ayurveda seeks to bring them into balance through proper diet, herbal treatment and spiritual practice.

Ayurvedic practitioner tries to see what part of the patient's life is creating the imbalance, be it diet, lifestyle, work, emotional states, etc. Based on the nature of the imbalance, the practitioner will select the modalities of the treatment.
