RANIBOW INTEGRATED SPECIAL SCHOOL
Rainbow Integrated Special School is a joint venture of Prerna Foundation and Malina Foundation. During the last 15 years, ICD has observed a lot of children with disability could not become educated, functionally literate, independent in Activities of daily living and able to earn livelihood.
To make the lives of these children with disabilities to be productive, dignified and self dependent, this Special School has the following programs
The meaning of Mainstreaming is that a school is providing education children with special needs into classrooms with their peers who have no disabilities.
Studies have shown that students with disabilities have higher academic achievement when they are mainstreamed. It also helps to get higher self-esteem and developing better social skills. These children have higher coping skills. A few disadvantages are also there. Generally the class teacher is not equipped to manage the special needs.
ICD’s integrated school not only prepares these special need children to cope in the mainstream school but also helps the regular teacher to be equipped to handle the challenges.

Special Provision
Flexible schooling- Children can attend this program any time between 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM on all working days. The duration of the schooling can be minimal of two hours and maximum of 5 hours a day. Number of days can minimal of two days in a week and maximum of 5 days in a week base on the specific needs.
Preparations for appearing in NIOS open school examination
Lot of children with disability is deprived of education due to miscellaneous factors. Especially children with Locomotor or physical disabilities are not ale to cope with mainstream schooling due to limitation with mobility / accessibility / hand writing, etc.
These children can be prepared according to their mental level and age to appear in Open school examination.

ADL independency Program
Large number of children with disabilities has limitation with activities of daily living. Sometimes, it is due to physical limitation. Most of the time, it is due to non-exposure by the parents as parents feels time constraints. These children can be trained to become independent in their daily activities like feeding, brushing, bathing, undressing / dressing, toileting and personal hygiene.
Studies have noted that children with special needs who are toilet trained are easily taken care by parents and schools.
No admission criteria have been placed. Any needy child with special needs can avail this facility
Special Provision

Functional Literacy Training program
Children with intellectual disabilities are generally left unattended due to very poor mental level. They are not even trained to have time concept, money concept etc.This program can help these children to be functionally literate. There are no age criteria for this group for admission.

Pre-vocational Training
Children who have adequate mental level and fine motor skill are the right candidate for this program. They are trained according to their choice and abilities. These children in the long run can become independent in their lives by earning a livelihood
Children above 14 years are the eligible candidates for admission
